1. Issue reported to the Borough or issue identified by the Borough
2. Issue investigated and documented by Code Enforcement Officer is the issue is identified to be within violation of the Borough's code of ordinances and/or the International Property Maintenance Code (IPMC)
3. Initial Notice of Violation sent to property owner
4. If issue is not corrected or abated within the given time frame, a citation is sent to the property owner and filed with the local magisterial courts
5. Borough and property owner must appear before the court on a scheduled hearing date to either prove the issue is resolved, dispute the violation, or request an extension. The process within the court system will continue until the issue is either resolved or disputed. 
6. If the issue cannot be resolved within the court system and/or poses a direct threat to the health, safety, and welfare of the community, the Borough will take further calculated action.

Upon receiving the notice of violation, review the mailing and work to identify what the problem is.

Correct the issue noted in the notice and reach out to the Code Enforcement Officer to schedule an appointment for the officer to review the violation. 

If you are: 

• Unsure of what the problem is
• Unable to correct the problem, or
• Need more time to correct the problem

Contact the Code Enforcement Officer listed on the Notice of Violation as soon as possible.

Keeping an open line of communication with the Code Enforcement Officer and the Borough are key in working to resolve the code enforcement issues.  

Reporting a code enforcement issue is as simple as filling out this form. 

If the issue poses a direct or imminent safety threat that requires emergency services, such as police, fire, or EMS, DO NOT USE THIS FORM. Call 911 and report the issue immediately. 

Yes, you can file an anonymous complaint. 

If you do choose to include your personal information on the complaint, please understand that your identity will also be kept anonymous as well. 

Before reaching out to Borough administrators, please note the following: 

• The process of code enforcement is that of due process.
  • The property owner must be given an opportunity to correct the issue first. If an issue is not corrected immediately, it is because the Borough has entered into this process. See the dropdown related to the Code Enforcement Process.
• Code Enforcement in the Borough is done by our Property Safety Specialist, Scott Stonebraker.
  • Please allow 3-5 business days for the Property Safety Specialist to investigate the complaint.
